Rangiora is a primary maternity unit offering safe, supportive care for whānau choosing community-based birth. The unit encourages a collegial and supportive environment for midwives, with regular monthly staff meetings that LMCs are welcome to attend alongside core staff.
Facilities include:
- 3 rooms for labour and birth (2 equipped with birthing pools)

Midwifery Support:

There are always two experienced, supportive core midwives available to assist at births and provide second opinions if needed

During the day, the unit is supported by the charge midwife, receptionist, hospital aide, and kitchen staff

Home birth packs of linen can be picked up and returned for laundering (a cold rinse beforehand is appreciated)

Breast milk donations for the NICU milk bank can be dropped off at the Rangiora Health Hub for storage and transport
